Bath is a small-sized city situated in the south-western country of Somerset. With a population of around 84,000, it is significant for being a historical landmark in England. It is an especially picturesque locale, and these two factors have given rise to its title of World Heritage Site. It is also known for the roman baths by which it gets its name, which you can experience for yourself in the city.
The University of Bath is also a well-known institution. Its students are known for performing well at the University, and with a speciality in science and technology, its alumni are well-respected and highly sought after. The University itself has many great facilities for prospective students, who have access to a huge dedicated student area with a 24-hour library, as well as a sports centre, which caters to the needs of all looking to work out in a gym, practice a sport with their team or go swimming.
The campus also provides essential amenities, such as a supermarket for various types of goods, several cafés located around the campus, as well as opportunities to earn some money while studying by offering jobs with the University.
The town of bath itself also provides a great opportunity for a true student’s social life, regardless of your interests and inclinations. In the town centre, you can find various supermarkets and shops ranging from the big and convenient supermarket chains, to small, local shops where you can purchase food from around the Somerset area.
It would be unwise not to mention the culture the city offers, too, with five distinct theatres such as the Bath Theatre Royal and Rondo Theatre, as well as a dedication to art and history with the Victoria Art Gallery and the Museum of East Asian Art. For scientists and students, The Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution is a great place of information, knowledge and intellectual debate.
If you’ve arrived in Bath to study and are a fan of sports – yes, football, but not only that - you can also check out some of the many sports clubs in the area, where you can choose from many places which are each dedicated to a specific sport.
If you’ve seen any pictures of Bath, you’ll have no doubt been tempted to visit the city. If you are and would like to plan a journey to Bath, then you’re in luck! There is a railway station in Bath, which is a one-and-a-half hour journey to London and just a 15-minute journey to Bristol, so it’s easy to find an airport in either city that your nearest airport will travel to. If you are looking for an alternative or need more flexible departure locations, National Express also travel to and from Bath from many different locations. If, on the other hand, you are arriving by car, you can find bath on the A4, south of the M4 motorway, and is just 13 miles south-east of the nearby city of Bristol. The need for transport around the city of Bath itself is also well-met, with a frequent park and ride system firmly in place to get about the city.
