Brighton

Brighton is a popular English seaside town in Sussex. It is a relatively small city with a population of 155,000, and its popularity across the UK and even the world can be seen by its influx of tourists, especially during the summer season. Part of the reason for this, aside from its long-stretching beach, is the number of events which take part over the summer; most notably the Brighton Festival and Brighton Fringe Festival. Many people also travel to spectate the London to Brighton Bike Ride as well as the Gay Pride March later in the summer. It is particularly notable due to the town's culture, which has a heavy background of GLBT tolerance, making this march one of the most popular in the whole the UK.

Outside of annual events, there is plenty to see and do in Brighton, including a large-scale aquarium, the Royal Pavilion and the Brighton Toy and Model Museum; just a few places to get started upon arrival in the city.

University of Sussex

The University of Sussex, located in Brighton itself, is a popular and highly-regarded University, which has become well-known for its high-quality teaching levels of Chemistry, English and its various media-related courses. It has a focus on critical thinking, creativity with research, and intellectual challenges. Many of the students have benefited from their ethos, which has helped many find the job that is right for them. Many students have found their teaching methods to be very useful for entrepreneurship, which has led to many successful businesses starting with new University of Sussex graduates.

The University provides adequate services for studying successfully, including over 450 computers installed with various different types of software, so there is always a vacant computer out there suited to your degree. Sports facilities are included, with an indoor sports centre for all kinds of sports and exercise regimens, while elsewhere in the University is an outdoor sports centre for all those needing to get back into football, rugby, tennis or any other sports you want to play.

The University's campus also provides shops owned by the University and the Students' Union, meaning there will always be sufficient provisions nearby, though with Brighton being a city, you can find shops of many different kinds to satisfy your food needs. The Union area in particular provides a restaurant and several bars; the perfect place to go after your day of studying is done. Several societies are also available, whether your interests involve music, video games, outdoor pursuits, religion or, for that matter, anything else.

The University also provides help to students looking for jobs. Their careers centre helps students get part-time jobs in town during their degree, while also helping those close to graduation start their career on the right track. New students can also make use of the student halls which are located near the campus, as well as other places around the city centre for those wishing for a more urban living environment.

Travelling to Brighton

Visiting Brighton is a memorable experience, and fortunately its transport services are more than adequate for making such a thing possible. If you're flying from outside of the UK, it can be reached in a very small time from Gatwick airport, and a relatively small time from Heathrow Airport. Connections directly between Brighton and London, too, are short and frequent. If your town doesn't have rail options, then you can always catch a National Express coach leaving from one of the many towns all across the country.
