University of Middlesex

Middlesex

Middlesex is an area in the north of London, the capital of the UK and located in the south east area of England. It is seen as the area north of the Thames divide, which runs directly through London. It is a very large and significant area of London, covering many historical and famous landmarks and much of the widely-used London Underground transportation. Outside of the bustling hub of Central London, some of the boroughs of London include Fulham, Barking, Barnet, Ealing, Hackney and Hammersmith.

The Grand Capital

London, of course, has a long, prolific and extensive history. Founded in Roman times from 50 AD, it was built around the first bridge crossing the Thames, which led to a steady expansion up until today, which has led to a population in the Middlesex area of over 1,000,000. It has become a significant location for diversity, with both residents and students settling from all parts of the world.

Located in Middlesex is the historical Middlesex University, which has been teaching its students for 130 years, although it was given the title of University in 1992. It now has 22,000 students under its wing and is known for having a big presence of mature students. In addition, it also has teaching facilities and campuses abroad, notably in Dubai, which has been enrolling students for six years. The Dubai campus offers degrees strongly related to the fields of business, management and technology, but a full set of courses is available from the numerous campuses of the University located all around Middlesex, in most boroughs of the entire area.

Award-Winning University

As a constantly expanding and growing University, there are new libraries and learning resource centres, and new courses and degrees being offered every year. It proudly bears the honour of having been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise and the Queen’s Anniversary Prize, the latter multiple times.

As the capital of the nation, it is hard to ask for more for living a fun, fulfilling student life. There are plenty of pubs and cinemas around the area, and of course many local and chain shops to suit any needs. The amount of business in the area means there are also many job vacancies for those looking to earn money while studying.

The Many Attractions

No matter where you go, there’s great food everywhere, too. With a diverse selection of restaurants, take-aways and pubs, there’s enough to discover over an entire duration of your degree; not to mention the different supermarkets to help make your life a little more convenient, nor the many different sports facilities around the city, which means there will always be one in your local area; if you are looking for some more specific sports facilities, they will undoubtedly be within a short distance for the Underground.

If you’re looking for something special aside from the usual student facilities, you can always check out some of the unique and popular attractions all over London. In the area is Alexandra Palace, a big ice rink as a fun social sport to try out. You can also check out some of the spectator matches that take place, too. Football fans should also not miss a tour of the impressive Arsenal Stadium.
