Luton

Luton is a town slightly north of London, located in the county of Bedfordshire, England. Its population is shared with other major Bedfordshire towns in the local area to Luton, creating a vast urban sprawl made up of over 230,000 people.

Among other landmarks, it is well-known for its large airport named London Luton Airport due to its vicinity to London, making it convenient for travellers to the capital city. It is also known for its football grounds, carnival and University, making it a memorable living place for any students who enjoy life in a large and bustling town.

The town has a long and busy history, starting from the town’s foundation around 500-600AD and saw rapid growth before the town was destroyed in a fire some 600 years later. The population of the town rebuilt and the population continued to increase and form a strong economy and community.

Today, the town sees a major renovation project, and as a result, the residents and future students of Luton will find improved public transport facilities, newly designed shopping centres and more job opportunities from an in-development business park for the field of technology.

If you're looking to study and like the look of Luton, it’s always worth checking out: in the town centre of Luton, you can find the Luton campus of the University of Bedfordshire. This comes from a recent merger from 2006, where the Bedford campus of De Montfort University became part of the same academic institution as Luton’s academic campus. Today, the University shares 14,000 students, making the town a great place to enjoy a student lifestyle.

If you’re a fan of shopping, then Luton provides its infamous shopping centre, The Mall Arndale. With plenty of different shops to choose from, as well as a large number of shops and other service businesses in the immediate area, you will rarely need to search further. For those who like their food local, the shopping centre also contains a market, where you can buy all of the meat, fish and produce you will need, while also hosting many stalls with different services you might expect from a local market: hairdressers, tattoos, t-shirts, and so on.

Traveling around, to and from the town is easy, too; from London Luton Airport, it is possible to arrive by both train and bus. Meanwhile, those looking to travel to London can easily travel between the two locations with more regular trains traveling into north London. Getting around Luton itself is also not a problem, as it has its own Arriva bus service, as well as plenty of taxis; a great boon to anybody leaving the clubs early in the morning!
